  • The Kelly Green Seems Quartet

    New York City based pianist, vocalist, composer, and educator Kelly Green brings her heartfelt, luminous, and swinging music to the stage at Shea Center with her Seems Quartet, named after the latest release of her working group of Evan Hyde, Luca Soul Rosenfeld, and Elijah J. Thomas. Green has headlined at prestigious venues worldwide, including The Kennedy Center, Dizzy's Jazz Club NYC, and the DC Jazz Festival. She has released three critically acclaimed albums which include collaborations with Christian McBride, Steve Nelson, and Josh Evans. A graduate of WP’s Master of Music program where she was mentored by jazz greats Harold Mabern and Mulgrew Miller, Kelly is dedicated to exploring concepts of spirituality and mental well-being; she seeks to inspire unity among diverse communities and promote awareness and action for the regeneration of our Mother Earth. This promises to be a moving and joy-filled musical event!

  • Benny Benack with the Big Beat Big Band (and that’s a lot of B’s!)

    The well-known singer and trumpeter Benny Benack III will team up with a wonderful big band, Big Beat. Formidable as both an instrumentalist and singer, Benack is a leading voice in jazz for his generation, headlining clubs and festivals around the world on the heels of his critically acclaimed album Third Time’s the Charm. His global recognition has been bolstered by live-streaming concerts of a weekly residency at Smalls Jazz Club and frequent appearances at fellow young lion Emmet Cohen’s “Emmet’s Place” series. Trombonist, arranger, and band leader Caleb Rumley and singer Allison McKenzie, partners in life, have been making music with the Big Beat Big Band since 2014, and their band has become a regular mainstay of Summer Jazz Room programs. Don’t miss this one, it will be a powerhouse event!

  • Brian Lynch and Spheres of Influence

    The esteemed trumpeter Brian Lynch and his high-powered Latin jazz ensemble Spheres of Influence are sure to light up the stage with their fiery playing. One of the most accomplished jazz trumpeters anywhere, Lynch is a veteran of stints with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, the Horace Silver Quintet, Eddie Palmieri, and Phil Woods, and has collaborated with jazz artists such as Benny Golson, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Charles McPherson, Latin music icons Hector LaVoe and Lila Downs, and pop luminaries such as Prince. He was voted Trumpeter of The Year by the Jazz Journalists Association in 2017, and garnered a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album in 2006. Professor Lynch teaches at the Frost School

    of Music at the University of Miami and has been the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Chamber Music America, and Meet The Composer. His group, Spheres Of Influence, mixes Black American, Afro-Caribbean, and other musical traditions in original works and arrangements by Lynch. Bring the fire extinguishers for this one!

  • The Tia Fuller Trio

    A force in the musical words of jazz, pop and R&B, Tia Fuller had completed a Master’s degree in Jazz Pedagogy and Performance when she was selected to tour with pop star Beyoncé. Fuller became a featured soloist on Beyoncé’s tours and performances across the globe, making many DVDs and recordings with the pop icon. Fuller has gone on to record five full-length projects with her quartet, including her most recent Grammy-nominated album, Diamond Cut. She has performed and recorded with a who’s who of jazz, including Terri Lyne Carrington, Esperanza Spalding, Dianne Reeves, Ralph Peterson, Rufus Reid, Wycliff Gordon, T.S. Monk, the late Aretha Franklin, Nancy Wilson, and Geri Allen, among many others. She has received Critic’s Poll awards from the JazzTimes for best alto saxophonist in 2018, and Downbeat for Rising Star. A full-time professor at the Berklee College of Music, Fuller has a media presence as a model in an advertising campaign for national women’s retailer J.Jill. Come and bask in the music of a strong role-model for young jazz musicians, and an exuberant and light-filled spirit!

  • Wycliffe Gordon and Friends

    Wycliffe Gordon is one of the most outstanding trombonists today, and is also a composer, and arranger. He has been in the limelight since 1988 when he joined the Wynton Marsalis Septet and subsequently joined the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Currently, Gordon tours the world as a soloist and with his own group; in 2018 he represented the US on State Department tour to Sri Lanka where he premiered a piece written for Sri Lanka’s 70th anniversary. He has 21 CDs as a leader, has been named the Jazz Journalist’s Association’s Trombonist of the Year 13 times and Downbeat’s Critic’s Poll six times. Recipient of numerous awards and honors, Gordon has an extensive catalog of original compositions, and his arrangement of the theme music of NPR’s “All Things Considered” is heard daily around the globe. He is also a committed music educator, serving as Director of Jazz Studies at Augusta University. This concert will surely send us off snapping our fingers and dancing our way home!

    David Sedaris is one of America’s pre-eminent humor writers. He is a master of satire and one of today’s most observant writers. Beloved for his personal essays and short stories, David Sedaris is the author of the New York Times best- sellers Barrel FeverHolidays on IceNakedMe Talk Pretty One DayDress Your Family in Corduroy and DenimWhen You Are Engulfed in FlamesLet’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, and Calypso. His pieces regularly appear in The New Yorker and have twice been included in “The Best American Essays.” The two volumes of his diaries, Theft By Finding: Diaries (1977-2002) and A Carnival of Snackery, Diaries (2003-2020) were New York Times bestsellers. His most recent book, Happy-Go-Lucky, debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list. The audio version of Happy-Go-Lucky, written and narrated by Sedaris, won the 2023 Audie Award. Sedaris has been nominated for five Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word and Best Comedy Album. As a Broadway, television, and motion picture actor for over 35 years, Robert Neary creates a one of a kind, cut above the rest, production. He talks about the songs and tells stories behind them, from Neil's interviews, quotes, and autobiographical books. You will swear you are watching the master himself, as he and the band perform 20 of Neil Diamond’s greatest hits. Songs like “Cherry Cherry”, “I Am, I Said”, “I’m a Believer”, “Solitary Man”, “Holly Holy”, “Coming to America”, “Sweet Caroline” and so many more. So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience is guaranteed to leave you speechless!

    Born and raised in East Meadow, Long Island, NY, Robert Neary gained immediate success as an actor, when he was 20 years old, with a guest star role in the Television series "Fame", and then opposite Jason Bateman in the film, "Teen Wolf Too". He has since gone on to guest star in over 50 television shows, including "Criminal Minds", "Sons of Anarchy", "The Closer", "Grey's Anatomy", " Blue Bloods", "Justified", "The Fosters", "FBI: Most Wanted", "Weeds", "Medium" "NCIS" and "NCIS New Orleans". He landed his first Broadway show in 1996, starring in “Smokey Joe’s Café”, and then toured as the evil Zoser in Elton John’s Broadway hit “Aida”.     The Doo Wop Project begins at the beginning: tracing the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. In their epic shows The Doo Wop Project takes audiences on a journey featuring foundational tunes from the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through the vocal artistry of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and The Four Seasons all the way to DooWopified versions of modern hits from Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, and Sam Smith.

    StevieMac faithfully recreates Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks’ solo recordings with striking accuracy. Diane Lutz gives a stunning performance as Stevie Nicks with spot-on vocals and visuals that magically capture Nicks’ stage presence. Andie Baldwin recreates Christine McVie with the look, sound and note-for-note piano playing that Christine was known for. Steve Ronson captures every essence of Lindsay Buckingham from his commanding vocals to his iconic guitar sound, style, and spirit.
